What is crushed malt?
The malt grains are crushed so that each piece of grain is separated from the husk (the outer shell). This allows your mash to convert the grain quickly and effectively.
When should I use Chocolate Malt?
Chocolate Malt is used when making darker beers such as bitters, ruby ales, milds, stouts and porters. It has a strong, coffee-like flavour. It is recommended that you use no more than 5% chocolate malt in the overall malt content of your beer recipes.
How should I store this Malt?
Once the pack is opened, put your crushed malt into a sealed container. Ideally keep the grains in the fridge. Stored in this way, your crushed malt will last for a few months after opening.
Each pack contains 500g of top quality, crushed malt.
