What is Crushed Malt?
The malt grains are crushed so that each piece of grain is separated from the husk (the outer shell). This allows your mash to convert the grain quickly and effectively.
When should I use Crystal Malt?
Crystal Malt is used to make golden beers. It is a popular malt, and is frequently used in the creation of English ales and bitters. It produces beers with a golden colour and a toffee caramel flavour. Crystal malt should ideally make up no more than 20% of the total malt content of your recipe.
How should I store Crushed Malt?
Once the pack is opened, put your crushed malt into a sealed container. Ideally keep the grains in the fridge. Stored in this way, your crushed malt will last for a few months after opening.
